Meet the Owner
Linda VanSoest
A little quilting history...in 1996 we purchased our second home and I was redecorating my kitchen while my in-laws were visiting. My mother-in-law was a quilter and helped me make a small apple wall hanging and that was the start of my quilting journey. I have been at it ever since. I love the process of cutting and assembling the tops. For many, many years I paid someone to do the long arm quilting on them as I believe the quilting is much like framing art. It either makes it or breaks it. In the last couple of years, I have been quilting my own and finally invested in my own long arm.... I now have a Bernina Q20 long arm (named Barbe-Q) including the computerized Q-matic program. I absolutely love it! I can always ( in an Australian accent please) "Throw another quilt on the Barbe!" Actually, I have to give credit to my wonderful husband, Jim, for my longarm along with the name Queen of Piece.
I have probably made somewhere between 200-250 quilts in my spare time, all a labor of love. My family, friends, friends of friends, adopted nephews and many others have a quilt I have made. I need a new outlet! So here were are at Queen of Piece Quilts and my Etsy shop QueenofPieceQuilts (Please visit and favorite my Shop). I hope you enjoy my work.
I will also make custom quilts and do computerized edge-to edge quilting on my long arm if you are interested. Just contact me!
I handsew the bindings to the back of my quilts - I like to say that's where I add the love, but truthfully there is love in every step of the project. I also wash and dry quilts before shipping, just to make sure there is no fabric that should bleed and so you get a fresh quilt! My Golden Retreiver Assistant, Mr. Cooper, also hangs out in my studio, so I want to make sure none of him gets shipped to you!
I price quilts depending on the cost of materials, the time it takes to cut, sew, assemble and quilt.
I will be adding some Made to Order quilts soon! I am open anytime to that, just contact me and we can discuss.
